Why poetry

Why poetry

Poems are more than just a nice addition to literature.

A good poem has an “inner beauty” and perfection and through the power of its language it frees our mind to connect us for a moment with a world outside ours.

For poetry takes a step out into spheres that can only be guessed at but can no longer be expressed in words, but which, despite everything, are real and indispensable for our humanity.

Therefore we should go back to them, take the trouble to understand them and regard them again as one of the best parts of our intellectual life.

A small step in this direction I make in this post on my blog: Why poetry
